Building Kenya's next generation of cloud-ready digital innovators
Cloud for Kids is a proposed cloud computing literacy programme for Kenyan children aged approximately 9 to 17 — spanning upper primary through senior secondary school — delivered through school partnerships and after-school learning hubs. It teaches foundational cloud computing concepts, digital citizenship, and applied coding and cloud skills in a way that's aligned with Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), currently transitioning to Competency-Based Education (CBE).
The initiative responds to a well-documented, employer-validated digital skills gap: a 2025 SAP survey found that 79% of Kenyan firms cite cloud computing specifically as their biggest skills shortage. Cloud for Kids is designed to intercept this gap early, positioning young learners for the STEM pathway at Senior School and for Kenya's growing cloud and technology job market.
Rather than assuming reliable classroom internet everywhere, Cloud for Kids uses a phased, hybrid delivery model — starting with an urban and peri-urban pilot, then expanding with an offline-first "unplugged cloud concepts" curriculum and mobile learning hubs modelled on Ajira Digital Centres and Konza Technopolis's Jitume hubs.
Our mission
To close Kenya's cloud skills gap at the source — by building genuine cloud literacy into childhood education, not just adult retraining.
Why Cloud for Kids is different
- First cloud-specific (not just general coding) literacy programme for kids in Kenya.
- Directly aligned to CBC/CBE and the new Senior School STEM pathway.
- A feeder pipeline into AWS Educate, AWS re/Start, and university Computer Science — complementing, not competing with, the existing ecosystem.
- Built around Kenya's real connectivity realities with a hybrid offline/online model.
